MUSIC VIDEO HYPE?

Experimental band, experimental video:
“I’m really into video art and the early video aesthetic from the ‘80s and ‘90s. So that led us to having Alex Bridger dancing in the woods in a white body suit while the other band members threw fluorescent paint at him, pretty much.”

The collaboration between AE Bridger and director Justin Oakey—probably best known around these parts for his entries to the Nickel Film Festival’s horror nights—makes a lot of sense.

“They’re a pretty warped group, so it’s not like a run of the mill video is going to do the job,” says Oakey. “I feel like the spontaneity of the ideas and imagery fit really well with the band’s sound. I think it’s really great when a band explores other media.”

“Stretch-A-Sketch” is Oakey’s first music video, but the Ryerson University film student from St. John’s has been getting attention in the film scene for the last few years. His work has been screened as far as the U.S.

The concept of the video is fairly simple, though band frontman Alex Bridger clearly had the most challenging role—what with being splattered with fluorescent paint and all.

Bridger hopes the video, which will be released in late August, will generate some buzz about the band’s new album I Am a Ghostly Leech.

2. OTTO

I finally got around to putting 2. OTTO online,
you can watch it here:

It's the second piece in a video art series exploring the body.
The first of the series would be 1. Fluid Study (watch it here).

Both pieces are screening in Minnesota this month.

"Fluid Study", "Otto" & "Burden"
were chosen as video installations to be exhibited in Minnesota this August.
I believe they will be project at a film festival venue, and at some art spaces, among other things.

Chipped Tooth Hotties

I got around to posting "Chipped Tooth Hotties" online. Links below!

It's that documentary Mark Pesci and myself did about the allure of chipped/crooked/busted teeth. It's only the school edit, but it's rad all the same (it's 4 minutes). The original song was written and performed by Toronto-based folk group $100.
